Choosing a job is hard enough. You have to find a place that you can work that you will enjoy, or at least be able to tolerate, depending on exactly what type of job you're looking for. When it comes to finding your dream job, you need to pick one that you'll love and that you're passionate about. If it's about survival, take the job that pays. What happens, though, when you face troubles because of the economic chaos and need to seek out a second job? The choices are nearly endless for second and part-time jobs, and you need to take the time to check out your options so that you can make the best decision about your future.
Start by considering something that won't make you miserable. If you're already going to be stressed from working more, it can be helpful to find a job that is fun, or at least more tolerable than the rest. Consider things that you like to do, and then find part-time jobs that can pay you for doing those things. Take into account your skills and abilities, because you might have access to more jobs than you thought with the different skills that you have. Is there something that you've always wanted to do, or a job that you've always dreamed of having, but it wasn't the right time? Now, when you need an extra job, go out and find that job, because having a second job shouldn't be a completely miserable experience.
Getting a second job also needs to reflect your expected extra income. If you just need an extra couple hundred dollars every few weeks, you can find a great variety of jobs that you can choose from. However, if you need a second job that produces a lot of income for your family, you might have fewer choices or have to find higher levels of work than entry level jobs. It's all about figuring out what you need and choosing the best second job for you.
Check out job fairs and local places. It doesn't matter how old you are or how advanced your primary career is. You're never too old to get an entry level job playing Santa at the mall during the holidays or working at the local grocery store just to make a little extra cash. It doesn't matter what you do or what you want to do with your life because a second job is usually about survival, so finding extra money is all that really matters. Keep these tips in mind and getting that second job could be easier than you think.
