Job Advice - If You're Ever Going to Settle, Now is the Time

By : Tony Jacowski

Many people start out in life on the wrong foot. While others go off to college or pursue big career dreams, they settle for the jobs that they've had since high school or for another job that they find because they're not ready to embark on the path to career success just yet. These people are often looked down upon for their decisions, but there is no shame in accepting less than the best. Some people just enjoy a hard day's work and don't need to make a million dollars to feel good about what they do. Others simply fall into circumstances that prevent them from doing anything else when it comes to their career futures.

If there's ever been a good time for these people, that time is now. They have settled for entry-level jobs and are likely the only ones still being able to work on a regular basis. These employees are less affected by the recession because they have jobs that are a necessary part of society. While corporate CEO's are being laid off, and manufacturing plants are shutting down, putting engineers and other professionals out of work, these people who chose work over a career destiny that involved lengthy education and/or training are actually in a better position because they are still working, and probably have the most job security of anyone out there.

There has never been a better time to settle. People always tell you not to settle for less than the best, but right now the best really isn't an option. If you take the time to check out all of your options, you'll likely see that there is much more that you can do with your job skills that don't involve high paying positions that don't really exist. It doesn't matter how much education or training you have because anyone can benefit from the current popularity of basic entry level jobs, regardless of their previous experience.

For some, these entry level jobs are the only ones that they can find. They go from making nearly 6 figures to living on a blue collar budget, and it can be difficult, but a paycheck is a paycheck at the end of the day. In this economy, people cannot afford to be picky, and there has never been a better time to accept less than the best opportunities. After all, anyone lucky enough to have a job right now is actually in a lot better shape than the nearly 10% that are unemployed and unsure of their futures. Keep these things in mind, and remember that getting a paycheck to keep your bills paid is far better than sitting around waiting for that imaginary dream job to find you.
