Answering Tough Interview Questions - What Are Your Strengths and Your Weaknesses?

By : Adrian F Alexa

This is a question that is very popular. The employer is asking these questions in order to see if you know yourself and if you can accept your weaknesses and your strengths. You should always try to be confident without being arrogant or over-confident.

When you go to an interview you must be able to speak about your strengths in order to make the employer see that this might be his lucky day as you may be the perfect candidate for the job.

When you are speaking about your strengths try not to sound over confident and try to use phrases like: "Some people told me that I am...." or " I believe that I am..." instead of " I am...".

Almost all the interviewers ask you about your strengths and after that they ask you about your weaknesses. Our advice is to describe the weaknesses that you have because otherwise you may seem egotistical - people may think that you like everything about yourself and that you believe that you are perfect.

You should always choose a minor weakness which is not relevant for the job. Always speak about how you compensate for your weaknesses too and in order to do that describe the actions that you take in order to be sure that your weaknesses cannot affect your performances. This is really important because your employer needs to see that you are able to control yourself and your weaknesses at the same time, and that they do not affect your work.
