Career Planning - How to Control the Risks of Failure

Choosing the right career impacts positively our lives, there no question about this matter. Nevertheless, what happens if we make the wrong decisions? Are we really prepared to face up the failure and to build up a new and rewarding career path? Although we all are afraid of this possibility, some of us have really experienced this side of career planning. In order to overcome successfully such events, we need to reconsider our career motivation; we need to make connection between our real competencies and abilities to accomplish particular tasks and real requirements of the job we have previously chosen.

Even tough we might have followed properly all the necessary steps so as we might reach the job that we have believed that suits us, we cannot annihilate completely the risks of failure. Therefore, we do not have to act desperately and to think that is the end of the world. We must believe that this experience makes us stronger and gives us new career opportunities. In conclusion we have to look beyond the immediate implication of our failure and to approach positively further career challenges. The old saying, "no pain no gain" synthesizes this positive approach.

The basic idea is that you can reduce significantly risks associated with career failure but you do not have the ability to reduce the degree of unpredictability due to the fact that you are only human. Thus if you have already experienced such events the only option is to seek new solutions that will lead your towards rewarding accomplishments. To sum up, the best risk-controlling method you could apply is to reconfigure your previous approach and to explore your outstanding skills.
